Wash

June 16, 2020 by joe Leave a Comment

After covering the blind man’s eyes with mud, the one who God sent to continue the divine creative work sends the man to a pool that means “sent” to wash.

When he had said this, he spat on the ground and made mud with the saliva and spread the mud on the man’s eyes, saying to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which means Sent).

Soulcraft: Crossing into the Mysteries of Nature and Psyche

June 14, 2020 by joe Leave a Comment

I picked up Soulcraft at the recommendation of Dan Dolquist of Wild Village. I originally connected to Dan through Illuman, a men’s group founded by Father Richard Rohr. As I write this, I am one week away from the first of four immersion experiences.

Over the next year, Dan is my primary guide into the realm of soul. This book, both through Dan and my own reading, is another. The book can be your guide as well.

Why I Stopped Pursuing Productivity

June 3, 2020 by joe Leave a Comment

Productivity: A measure of the efficiency of a person, machine, factory, system, etc., in converting inputs into useful outputs.

Oxford Dictionary

It all sounds rather mechanical, right. Something that puts us in the category of human doings rather than human beings. It leads to days measured by to-do lists and calendars. Or one measured entirely by production. Our personal versions of the DOW and GDP. But just as I would argue that those are abhorrent measurements for the well-being of a nation, so our individual measures are poison to the soul.
