Jesus Birthday Video

Okay, if this was done by someone as a joke, I'd be laughing at what the Green Day song calls, "The Jesus of Suburbia". I'd put it in the same category of "Saved" and "Dogma" which are beautiful critiques of modern Christianity. But this was put together by a congregation ... and, to make it even worse for me, a Lutheran one.

Just curious, does the red glow of my embarrassment radiate out from your computer screen?

Please...for the love of all that is good and holy, gouge them out!!! MAKE THE BAD MAN STOP!!!

I would have to say I agree with, what I'm only assuming is the point, that we should not look at Christmas as a chance to get presents. Or in short, the materialistic side. On the other hand, couldn't you say that Christmas really IS about us since it is the beginning of God's redemptive plan?

Okay, I know that God's redemptive plan goes back at least to the fall, but I hope you get my general drift.

Of course you could also argue that even the redemptive plan is really about God and His glory and that He receives more glory through our redemption. That would make it all about Jesus wouldn't it? But if God is glorified through our redemption and the birth of Christ is the mainfestion of that plan, then that would make Christmas about us!

Is your head swimming yet?
