Well, I did my duty as a citizen tonight ... I gave the Denver County Court money.
Of course it's not quite that easy. Last June as I was getting ready to head off to Europe I was cruising down Pena Blvd. on my way to the airport when a cop pulled me over. While I could offer all kinds of excuses as to why I was doing it, it basically comes down to the fact that I was speeding.
Now, when it comes down to eternal matters that whole deal was taken care of by Christ 2000 years ago. However, according to temporal matters with God's local representative (aka the City and County of Denver) things were pending until 8-something tonight when I handed over my credit card and wondered how many diapers the fine would have purchased.
The former pastor at the church I attend actually became the police chaplain to avoid such nastiness. (Not really, in truth he was a deputy before becoming a pastor...but it was a benefit of the job!) Just a thought. :)
